We are calling for applications for the Pastor position of Advent-St. Nicholas Church (ASN) in Quito, Ecuador, South America.

We are a unique, ecumenical, English-speaking Christian community which uses the liturgical settings of the Lutheran and Episcopal (Anglican) traditions in its regular worship services.

We have extended the original deadline for applications as we have yet to receive one from a candidate who would be a good match for ASN. We are concerned that we might have failed to present some of the fantastic advantages of living and working in Ecuador. We are also looking at options to a full-time pastor with a long-term committment such as perhaps a multi-year solution with shorter term possibilities. However, what a full-time pastor is for us, would in reality, be a part-time position for those who are used to working with larger, non-transient congregations. Since the church is small, there would be time available to explore a multitude of personal interests within the Ecuadorian community. We do want an ordained pastor, however.

We would appreciate it if you could look over the attached job description, which is quite detailed, but provides a good basis from which to begin conversations with potential candidates. We would also appreciate it if you could circulate the job description throughout your network as well as provide us with suggestions on how to best to find suitable candidates based on your experience with English-speaking churches located internationally.

Application information is also attached. All applications should be sent to the Advent-St.Nicholas Transition Commission at fried.michelle@gmail.com.

Thank you for any distribution help and/or advice you might be able to offer us.

Sandra G. Edwards
Member of the Advent-St. Nicholas Transition Commission (ASN-TC)
